Over spring break 6 friends and I were in Orlando, Fl for a few days. We had made a few dinner reservations, but this one was for sure the most different place we would go to. It was called 50's Prime Time Cafe. The theme of the restaurant was set in the 50's and you called your waitress "Mom" and Waiter, "Dad'. I have been there once before and had a great overall experience and my friends were excited.
On my first visit I was reprimanded for having my elbows on the table, not eating my vegetables. When the waiter collected my plate and saw the vegetable and made the whole restaurant, point their fingers and say, “Shame on you. Don’t waist Moms food”.
When we were seated in a corner, the host told us Mom would be right out and to be on our best behaviors. It had really clicked for my friends to be on their best behavior after remembering the stories I had told them from last time. We were all excited and trying not be on our best behavior so "Mom" would say something. The whole meal we tried to get a reaction out of her, but nothing happened. We were all pretty disappointed by the experience.

ReplyDeleteCady I like how you told the group you were in what to expect, it was a shame you did not get to get a reaction out of "mom". When you were in there were there other waiters and waiteresss' acting like you described or was it all of them acting like yours was?
ReplyDeleteI've had many negative experiences but this one seems like both a bad and weird one because they wee acting. I understand how the host or waitress's or waiter's are "moms" and "dads" but the elbow thing is very funny. I would love to experience this in person to see if the acting would be exceptional and that they make sure whoever I came with has a great experience.
ReplyDeleteSince you had been there before and had expectations for "mom" or "dad" to meet it stinks that you got let down like that and couldn't show your friends what it was really about there. Maybe the "mom" was having an off day from her personal life and brought it into work that day? Maybe if you thought about it like that you could give this restaurant one more chance since it seems to be a fun restaurant! I would say give it one more chance and if nothing changes never go back! You never know sometimes things happen and people bring it into the work place ever though they shouldn't.
